Picture it: your organization plans a community town hall meeting about a set of critical upcoming ballot proposals. Elected officials and department heads are called in to present, posters and info guides are created, the media is notified—and not a single person shows.
Or a community starts a fabulously successful visioning exercise, with hundreds of residents stepping forward to participate, ultimately researching and making recommendations on achieving several strategies identified in the 20-year vision. The city’s intent was to be citizen-led without interference by the City. The result was disappointed citizens who didn’t get what they wanted because the expectations and recommendations from the teams didn’t meet the budget realities of the City.
Come join the cities of Ferndale, MI and Eagan MN as they discuss their journeys and share their lessons, along with some of the tips they learned along the way. Both will show how their Fabulous Flops were ultimately transformed into Fabulous Feats!
