In 2015, ICMA introduced the Advisory Panel on Technology Content with financial support from its strategic partner, OnBase by Hyland. Panel members help identify and set priorities on the technology information ICMA members need most. Among the priority topics identified by the group last year were:
- Selecting apps for local government.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Forming an IT Advisory Council.
- When to use an IT Advisory Committee.
The panel meets by conference call on a periodic basis, more frequently at the beginning of the year when organizing its agenda and less frequently once the work plan for the year has been established. Members can plan on meeting four to six times by phone and one face-to-face meeting during the ICMA Annual Conference. Panel members will also be asked to write articles on topics of interest and to participate in webinars.
