The city of Yuma, AZ (pop. 88,775) is pursuing annexation of federal lands to oversee and control future growth in the region. Other growing communities in the Yuma region, such as the city of Somerton and the town of Wellton have recently annexed land in order to protect their community interests and respond to the growth seen throughout the area.
