Public Access to GIS Data of Water System

John Emerson
John Emerson asked

My City is working on a GIS product to display Capital Improvement Plan projects for purposes of informing decision makers and residents more easily as well as drive communication between the development community and the City. The question of whether or not to include water infrastructure information has risen due to security concerns. My question is what does your City do to make sensitive infrastructure data available to developers? Do you prevent access, do you provide access on request only, etc . . . ? Thank you.

Christopher Trice

Hi John,

We provide limited access by request on a hard copy map. Full access to GIS data for consultants under contact with the city via an FTP site.
