Do any of you have experience working with non-profits to divert clothing from your waste stream?
The impact of clothing on our waste systems can be significant especially since so many of our cloths now contain non-biodegradable materials. Thankfully, many articles of clothing are in good enough condition to be recused and there are usually non-profits that would appreciate the opportunity to collect the cloths.
What agreements have worked in your community?
Do you have an ordinance in place for the collection of clothing?
Do you include a collection bin at neighborhood and/or city clean up days?
Did you create a competitive bidding process for the groups interested in participating?
Did you limit the participating organizations to non profits?
