IT Assessment of Needs

[Anonymous] asked

Has anyone developed RFP to assess Information Technology weakness, including staff knowledge, network performance, stability and sustainability? We have one staff member for 125 employees and multiple locations. We are not certain how to go about hiring a consultant to talk to us about our needs.

I've included Ron Pellegrini's contact information below that I suggest you contact re: a technology assessment. I used Pellegrini & Assoc. when I was the IT Director for the City of Concord and can recommend them without reservation.

Are you using an ERP system of some type? We have Oracle database and applications. As an Oracle customer, they will come in and perform at no charge an Insight study to assist with this type of analysis. If you have a partnership with a specific vendor like Oracle, Unisys, etc., they may be willing to help at little or no charge.

We currently use PeopleSoft for our HCM system. Do you have an IT Department that can conduct a feasability study/assessment? You could always hire a business analyst to come in and conduct some requirements gathering and provide you with a business needs assessment. Typically, when we are looking at different software programs we focus on our requirements first. Currently we are looking at performance management software (including Oracle and PeopleSoft's versions). :)
