TreeOpp is a pilot project of the City of Boulder Parks & Recreation, funded by the Knight Cities Challenge. TreeOpp transforms trees removed due to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation into art and usable goods sold back to the community. The project includes a partnership with Bridge House, which helps homeless adults re-enter the workforce; through an apprenticeship program at BLDG 61 Makerspace at the Boulder Main Library. Participants from Bridge House’s Ready to Work program learn woodworking and transferrable job skills. Since its launch, the program gained significant momentum in the community and has proven to be a success.
