The Alliance is gearing up for an eventful and dare I say innovative 2017.
The regional directors met in Charlotte last week to discuss a plan for 2017. In addition to planning out some awesome projects to improve membership, we also broke out of a wild west bar by solving puzzles and riddles in Breakout Lake Norman. Breaking it down, you have 60 minutes to escape a themed room. If you haven't done a breakout room, I encourage you to check it out. So much fun! Good team-building too.

Some of the highlights of the new projects we will be working on in 2017 to improve membership:
- Membership Customization: we'll look to connect with you more regularly to learn more about the top ideas you're working on and better connect you to the resources we have to address your challenges.
- We're looking to develop new tool kits for the Ambassadors to help you in nurturing an innovative culture in your organizations.
- Engaging members on the ground to help plan events based on your interest.
Outside of planning, I also had the pleasure of attending the Des Moines Metro Managers Luncheon. I spoke on the Next BIG Things that could hit Iowa in the next 20 years. We had a wonderful conversation about new technology's potential impact on local government services. Will we have people plowing roads in 20 years? If you haven't done so, check out the Next BIG Things report.
