Local Government Managers Australia (LGMA) staff and members would like to welcome the two visiting ICMA Climate Change Fellows to Australia!
The visiting fellows Katie Fought and Daryl Slusher arrived in Australia on the 17th of October and will spend the next two weeks with their Australian host community and local Council. The visiting climate change fellows are part of the professional fellows program funded by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and delivered by LGMA’s sister organisation in the United State, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Katie Fought is from Palm Bay, Florida and will be hosted by Wayne Prangnell and the Shire of August, Margaret River (http://www.amrshire.wa.gov.au/ ) where Wayne is the Director of Infrastructure.
Daryl Slusher is from the City of Austin, Texas and will be hosted by Jeff Green and the team at Coffs Harbour City Council (http://www.coffsharbour.nsw.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx) where Jeff is the Executive Manager, Strategy and Sustainability.
Both Jeff and Wayne, along with Warren Mortlock from Redland City Council, were the first round of Australian fellows who travelled to the United States in April this year.
LGMA is proud to be a part of this international fellowship exchange program aimed at local government and look forward to the continued exchange of ideas by our Australian local government practitioners with their peers in the United States as we tackle the common global challenge that is climate change.
