#ICYMI: #ICMA15 Handouts Now on the Knowledge Network

Recently all the session handouts from the 101st ICMA Annual Conference went live on the Knowledge Network (KN).  To access them, go to the KN landing page, click on the “Documents” tab in the horizontal navigation bar, go to “Narrow by Document Type,” and select “Conference Document.” Alternatively, if you know the precise name of the session, use the search feature on the documents page. Here are 5 of my favorite handouts:

  1. From the Our Changing Demographics: How Diversity Is Evolving in Our Communities session, you’ll find interesting data and insights on the topic of community diversity.
  2. One of the more informative handouts is the Taking Your Civic Pulse presentation.  It explains what makes up civic health and how you can use civic health metrics in decision making.
  3. A hot topic at this year’s conference was citizen engagement. This presentation tells the story of how the small community of Gardiner, Maine, was able to engage its citizens during the development of Gardiner’s comprehensive plan.
  4. Local governments have found that a great way to engage citizens is to use social media platforms. This presentation can help organizations get started in developing a social media program.
  5. This presentation tells the story of the streetcar initiative in Kansas City, Missouri, and how streetcars can contribute to your downtown revitalization plans.

Don’t forget to save the date for the 102nd Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, September 25-28, 2016!
