One of the main purposes of YSEALI Professional Exchange Program is placing young leader to work in Local Government of United States of America to increase knowledge and understanding of environmental sustainability approaches and programs.

NSHIP under the city's manager office

I am placing in Hermosa Beach City is a small beautiful beachfront city with the total areas of 1.4 square miles (3.6km2). As an internship working at the city’s manager office on environmental sustainability with a lot of introduction and help from the environmental analysis (city staff), I’ve been assigned to help with building an RFP for solar installation on a community center building and I am also working on updating the city website (www.hermosabch.org) on Environmental Program page (http://www.hermosabch.org/index.aspx?page=831). Working with local government has helped me understand more about how to work on implement the general plan, meet difference challenges and solutions. I’d like to thank ICMA and YSEALI for this great opportunity for me to increase and build capacity to address environmental sustainability challenges in my communities, specifically on climate change, sustainable energy, waste management and environmental justice.
