Featured Blog: Government Affairs & Public Policy

The Government Affairs & Public Policy blog, which began in 2012, is the best place to follow the latest in local government public policy, legal issues, and contracts.  The primary blogger, Lisa Soronen (Executive Director, State and Local Legal Center), provides unique insight and riveting writing in all of her posts.  This blog is your one-stop shop for information on Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) cases and decisions that have an impact on local governments.  To give you a taste, I’ve highlighted 3 posts from the blog:

  1. Prado Navarette v. California is an important ruling for all police and public safety departments. SCOTUS ruled that an anonymous unverified tip of dangerous driving does justify a traffic stop.
  2. Get a preview of the cases SCOTUS may hear this term. One such case could involve the use of cell phone location data.
  3. One of the more significant cases for local government SCOTUS has decided this year was Reed v. Town of Gilbert. This ruling could require the majority of local governments to update their sign codes
