Hottest Blogs of 2015

We are midway through 2015 and local government has been in the national spotlight a multitude of times. The Knowledge Network is always quick to respond, highlighting great resources or covering some of the most important topics and trends impacting local government. The blogs that live on the Knowledge Network are the one-stop shop for quick looks at hot topics. Using Google Analytics, I identified blogs that are trending this year.

  1. The most popular blog so far this year is the Professional Fellows Exchange Program. This blog contains great posts from the Fellows who traveled to the United States to gain local government educational and professional experience. Some 2015 highlights from this blog include: The day I met President Obama, Pearland and Sugar Land, till we meet again!!!, and Some things to bring back home.
  2. Next on the list is the ICMA Center for Sustainable Communities blog. This is a blog for discussing new strategies, tools, resources, and ideas for creating stronger, more resilient and sustainable communities. Some 2015 highlights from this blog include: Innovations in Solar Technology, Sustainability in Small Places, and Sustainability at the ICMA Annual Conference
  3. The Brownfields 2015 blog covers the latest on the topic of brownfields and the Brownfields 2015 Annual Conference. Some 2015 highlights include: Land of 10,000 Brownfield Funding Opportunities, 15 Essential, Environmental Considerations for Site Closure Activity, and Is that Brownfield, Brown? Perception vs. Reality.
  4. Fourth on the list is the In the Know blog. This blog is designed to help users find out what’s new and noteworthy in local government by accruing resources from the Knowledge Network and beyond. Some 2015 highlights include: Los Angeles, California, Becomes Largest City to Raise Minimum Wage, “If you want somebody who’s going to get the job done, hire a veteran!”, and 8 Resources to Make the Best Use of Social Media.
  5. Rounding out the top 5 is ICMA’s Center for Management Strategies blog, which covers leading practices to help local governments implement strategies that improve service delivery. Some 2015 highlights include: Research You Can't Trust, Online Civic Engagement: The Emerging Trend of Turn-of-the-Year Topics, and Feds may be down, but local government still strong.
