ICYMI February 23rd-27th

This has been a cold and snowy week here at the ICMA office in D.C., perfect for warming up with cocoa and a little Knowledge Network content.  Before I get to the list, I recommend these past posts on winter weather: First, David Goroff wrote this informative blog post on snow preparedness.  Second, I wrote on innovative ways to deal with the rising heating costs caused by cold weather.

Here is my favorite content added this past week:

  1. Explore the opportunity to share and learn about the best practices in climate change at Brownfields 2015. Check out this Brownfields 2015 blog post about topics that will be covered at the conference.
  2. Another great blog post covers the importance of ensuring that your civic website represents your community’s vision.
  3. Last chance to volunteer for ICMA’s Strategic Planning Task Force; apply by March 2.
  4. My blog post on infographics shows how to use them effectively.
  5. Interested in Supreme Court decisions about local government?  This article covers everything you need to know.
  6. Magda Gonzalez just received the Ethical Hero Award because of her dedication to improving professionalism in East Palo Alto, California.
  7. Registration is still open for the Southeast Regional Summit, March 12-13, at the Omni Grove Park Inn, Asheville, NC. Bob O’Neill will lead the workshop, The Art and Science of Persuasion; don’t miss this leadership and professional development opportunity.
  8. The March PM cover story “Cybercrime @ City Hall” covers the most frequently encountered types of cyber breaches
  9. Cal-ICMA is hosting a free webinar on developing effective relationships with elected officials on March 5 from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.
