Week in Review: January 12-16, 2015

This is the first ICYMI (In Case You Missed It) blog post of 2015.  The purpose of the ICYMI posts is to congregate all new Knowledge Network information and resources into one post.  This post provides users with a sampling of the kinds of information available on the Knowledge Network, and also offers a way to make sure you can get the most from it.  Here are some great readings and resources from last week:

  • This infographic from OnBase and provides local government professionals a flow chart to assist their communities in planning strategies.
  • Read Lisa Soronen’s blog post on what the recent Supreme Court ruling on cell towers means for local government.
  • The #ICMAnextgen blog to promote ICMA’s Next Generation Initiatives went live this week. This blog is a great read for young professionals and/or students interested in local government.
  • PM Magazine reaches out and asks local governmental leaders, “What’s Your Favorite Piece of Leadership Advice?” Check out their responses.
  • Alliance for Innovation had a great 2014.  This article provides you with a review of all their 2014 initiatives.
  • Sustainable Communities’ blog post helps answer the question, “Do Lower Oil Prices Require a Change in Strategy?”
  • What are you community goals in 2015?  Let ICMA help make your 2015 community goals happen by telling us what your goals are.
  • Why is there so little progress in women gaining leadership roles in local government?  This PM Magazine article provides an overview of challenges facing women in government.

What would you like to see in the Knowledge Network in 2015?  Is there anything you would like added to this weekly post? Please post your response in the comments bellow.
