With four stimulating daily keynote sessions, more than 60 concurrent educational and solutions track sessions, 30 roundtable discussions, 32 ICMA University workshops and 6 forums and demonstrations, the 2010 conference is loaded with learning opportunities. As you're deciding exactly which of the more than 150 sessions to attend, remember that the learning continues in the exhibit hall -- in Solutions Track sessions and the exhibits themselves.
Two theater venues in the exhibit hall will host the Solutions Track sessions, which present case studies of local governments that have overcome challenges through innovative public-private partnerships. Session topics were selected by a committee of Conference Planning Committee members and Strategic Partners, with emphasis on showcasing ideas that are practical and new for local governments.
While sessions showcase best practices, the exhibit hall showcases products and services that are being used successfully in local government. A trip through the exhibit hall is a little like a trip to the grocery store. Most of us want to get in, get what we need, and get out. But to do that, you need a plan of attack.
Think about the things that keep you up at night, the things the council brings up every week, the opportunities for improvement. Public safety, parks, planning -- whatever your challenges are, those are the things that go on your shopping list. Highlight the exhibitors that offer the types of products and services that could address your challenges. Then weave your way from one side of the hall to the other until you've checked everything off your list.
Hope to see you in exhibit hall!
