The City of Waxahachie is a home rule city with a council-manager form of government. The Waxahachie City Council consists of the Mayor and four City Council members. The City has 313 employees and an annual FY2017/18 budget of $37,501,290. The current tax rate is $0.68 per $100 of valuation.

The selected candidate should have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in public administration, finance and budgeting, economic development, business administration, or other related fields. A master’s degree is strongly preferred. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible management experience is required, including relevant senior level managerial or administrative responsibility. The City of Waxahachie offers a very competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience.
