The City of Rowlett, Texas, located along the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard, is home to over 62,000 citizens who enjoy a high quality of life. Incorporated in 1952, Rowlett is a full-service municipality that includes the following departments: Police, Fire Rescue, Financial Services, Public Works, Development Services, Information Technology, Parks and Recreation, Library Services, Economic Development, Human Resources, and City Secretary’s Office. The City operates under a home rule charter and functions under the Council/Manager form of government. The City Council is composed of a Mayor and six Councilmembers. The City’s fiscal year 2017-2018 operating budget totals $124.4 million.

The City Manager’s Office leads, directs and coordinates all City operations and staff. The City seeks a forward-thinking leader with strong collaborative and decision-making skills to join its leadership team as Assistant City Manager. The ideal candidate must be a proven municipal leader with the ability to successfully manage virtually any city department, program, project or activity assigned by the City Manager. Politically astute, without being political, the incoming Assistant City Manager will have exceptional interpersonal skills and the flexibility to perform at a high level in an environment of growth.

A bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Political Science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Also required are 10+ years of progressive municipal management experience with at least five 5 years as a Department Director or above; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The expected hiring salary range is $121,000 to $151,250, based on qualifications.
