Skilled Maintenance Supervisor - Special Improvement Maintenance Districts

As a Skilled Maintenance Supervisor, you will supervise maintenance and repair activities for the rights-of-way, medians, and trails and open spaces for three special maintenance districts.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Select, supervise, train, and evaluate staff; prioritize, schedule, and assign work; and inspect completed work
Research and order necessary materials and supplies
Prepare and track an annual list of projects
Plan turf renovation projects and improvements for rights-of-way and medians
Participate in project walk-throughs and plan reviews
Prepare and execute assigned budget
Provide information and direction on turf and landscape maintenance and environmental and safety issues
Provide direction, review, and feedback to assigned staff and contractors
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge of:
Maintenance and installation of turf, landscape, and irrigation systems
Equipment and techniques of the construction trade, including utility locates
Repair and maintenance standards for playground structures, play elements, and playground surfacing
Smart and web-based irrigation controllers
Preventative maintenance requirements
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
Methods and techniques of record keeping
Ability to:
Oversee turf, landscape, irrigation, and hardscape projects
Perform advanced and complex work
Safely operate a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery
Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Successful candidate will have:
A high school diploma or GED supplemented by specialized technical training in general construction and preventative maintenance
Five years of full-time professional skilled maintenance experience related to this position, including one year of lead supervisory experience
Possess, or obtain within twelve months of hire, ASSE (American Society of Sanitary Engineering) Backflow Inspector Certification
Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver's license
Pass a post-offer physical
Ideal candidates will also have:
Possess ALCC (Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado) certification in landscape, irrigation and/or ornamental maintenance
Supervision Exercised: In this position, you will supervise and monitor performance for a regular group of employees or department, including providing input on hiring/disciplinary actions and work objectives/effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work.

Fiscal Responsibility: You will do research for documents, compile data for computer entry, and/or enter or oversee data entry. You will be responsible for monitoring budget/fiscal expenditures (typically non-discretionary expenditures) for the work unit of less than department size (programs, activities, projects or small organizational units) or fiscal management of capital project(s).

Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids: Computer, printer, copier, telephone, and standard office equipment.

Specialized Computer Equipment and Software: Microsoft Office and Cartegraph software.

Additional Information:
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, and walking or standing to a significant degree.
