The City of Tempe has two (2) full time vacancies. Below are the two areas of assignment.
Human Services Department /Tempe Community Council (Community Partnership)
This position provides accounting support to programs in the Human Services Department, as assigned. Primary responsibilities of this position include not only municipal accounting functions for the City, but also non-profit accounting functions for a partnership with Tempe Community Council. The position also provides support to Tempe Community Council’s Board of Directors. The Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions including audits, financial reports, general ledger and payroll, and a Finance Committee with the non-profit. The position works with various accounting programs, including CYMA, QuickBooks, and PeopleSoft.
The TCC Accountant position must be bondable by a reasonable surety company. This may include a credit report on an ongoing basis while employed with the City of Tempe. This will be at no cost to the employee.
Internal Services Department / Finance – Accounting
This position performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involving the accounting, recording and reporting of financial transactions involved in City funds; reviews accounting records for accuracy; and prepares financial reports, statements and special financial analyses.
Open until the needs of the City are met. First review date November 13, 2017. This position may close at this time.
Annual Salary Range: $54,605 - $73,717
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or degree related to the core functions of this position.
The term “equivalent” means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
Two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in municipal or public accounting.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
Successful completion of initial probationary period is contingent upon passing an FBI background investigation. Based on position, referred applicants may be subject to additional testing which may include pre-employment polygraph, physical and drug screening.
