This is responsible managerial and professional work in the administration of Streets Division services and activities for the City of Madison. Under the general policy direction of the Mayor, this position has primary responsibility for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and managing the programs, activities and staff of the Streets Division, including street repair and maintenance; street cleaning; snow and ice control; solid waste management; and other related programs and activities.
Employment will be subject to a five-year employment contract negotiated by the Mayor and approved by the Common Council and a term of the contract requires residency in the City of Madison. Non-residents will be given time to establish residency if necessary. This position currently supervises approximately 240 employees, both directly and through subordinate supervisors.
Tentative recruitment timeline
Following the closing of the job posting, we are planning on holding phone interviews the first week in December. Those that pass the phone interview will be invited to an oral board planned for early January 2018.
