Located on the eastern edge of the Cascade Mountain Range along the banks of the Deschutes River, Bend, Oregon, sits between high desert plateaus and forest-covered mountains. Bend is central Oregon’s largest city, noted for its scenic setting and year-round outdoor recreational activities. Bend also offers annual music, art and film festivals, theatrical companies, unique shops, world-class dining, and nationally recognized breweries and wineries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, last year, Bend was the fastest growing of large cities (population greater than 50,000) in the west, and is currently home to more than 90,000 residents.

The City of Bend employs more than 600 FTEs and has a biennial budget of more than $700 million. The Finance Department consists of Accounting, Budget, Billing & Customer Service and Municipal Court divisions. Under the general supervision of the Finance Director, the Assistant Finance Director is responsible for the daily administration and supervision of the Accounting & Financial Reporting, Billing & Customer Service, and Municipal Court divisions within the Finance Department, and implementation of special projects at the direction of the Finance Director. The Assistant Finance Director will directly supervise three division supervisors/managers and a performance analyst, and oversee 24 additional employees. This position also assists the organization in achieving overall sound financial management by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial and budgetary information, managing treasury and debt management functions and maintaining entity-wide internal controls and financial regulatory compliance.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a closely related field, and five (5) years of progressive professional level management experience in accounting, finance or auditing with a governmental organization. An advanced degree in accounting, and/or CPA is strongly desired. Candidates may possess any combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates their ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
