Curry County is located along the beautiful Oregon Coast in the southwest corner of the state. The county offers peaceful beaches, majestic forested mountains, and numerous rivers, including the world famous Rogue River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean at the north end of the City of Gold Beach, the county seat. Home to approximately 22,700 residents, the county is famous for its sea stacks (huge beach rocks), natural bridges, whale watching, and sunsets.
Founded in 1855, Curry County is governed by a three-member Board of Commissioners. The county employs approximately 98 full-time employees and 15 irregular workers, and operates on a fiscal year 2017-2018 budget of $57,611,736, including a General Fund budget of roughly $8,000,000. County departments with elected departments heads include: The Assessor/Tax Collector, Board of Commissioners, Clerk/Recorder, District Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer. County departments with appointed department heads include: Community and Economic Development, County Counsel, Curry County Fair, Facilities Maintenance, Finance, Juvenile, Parks, Roads, Surveyor and Veterans Services.
Curry County is seeking its first County Administrator. Appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the Board of County Commissioners, the County Administrator will be the Chief Administrative Officer of the county and will execute all management and administrative tasks of the Board of Commissioners and shall have control and supervision of all county administrative departments, divisions and offices except the County Sheriff, District Attorney, and their respective offices and staff, and County Counsel, or as otherwise provided by law.
A bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in public or business administration or management is required. A master’s degree in a related field is preferred. A master’s degree and minimum of five years of experience may be considered.
