Recognition

Chief appointed official position was recognized by ICMA in 1970 as a Council-Manager position.

The position supervises, plans, and coordinates operations of the City's recreation center, and parks. Oversees development promotion of City recreation program, including but not limited to athletics, arts and crafts, cultural arts, swimming, social interaction, and special activities. Also oversees maintenance and development of parks, swimming pool, play areas, ball fields, gyms, basketball and tennis courts. The position oversees a staff of 20-full time and 64-part time personnel.

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Recreation/Park Management or closely related field. The ability to effectively move the organization forward is essential. Three to five years of applicable work experience may be substituted for education requirement. Applicable valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license, and First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications required or obtained within the six months of hire.
