East Providence City Manager Named to National Council

East Providence, RI City Manager, Richard Brown, has been named to the State, Local, Tribal and Territorial Government Coordinating Council (SLTTGCC) for the US Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Brown was asked to serve on the committee as a result of his leadership position in the community and his knowledge and experience in the areas of homeland security and critical infrastructure protection.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on this important committee” said City Manager Brown. “The need to protect our communities and their assets exists in all areas regardless of population.” Mr. Brown further stated that he is concerned about “building capabilities in all communities to protect themselves and to be able to communicate with all levels of government.”

As stated in the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, the SLTTGCC “serves as a forum to ensure that State, Local, Tribal and Territorial Homeland Security Advisors are fully integrated as active participants in the national protection efforts and to provide an organizational structure to coordinate resources across jurisdictions.

Mr. Brown’s appointment to the SLTTGCC is for one year and he is the only City Manager serving on the Committee. He was invited to the committee by SLTTGCC Chair Brigadier General Michael C. McDaniel, Michigan’s Homeland Security Advisor.
