The customer experience moves beyond accessible and well-designed websites
9 November 2017
The Village of Bayside recently received 3rd place in the Center for Digital Government's (CDG) Inaugural Government Experience Awards. This is the first year that the CDG has adopted a more holistic view of awarding local governments for their digital efforts to engage with residents and improve citizen service delivery. According to CDG, "The game has changed, and the measures of digital government services are no longer quantifiable in terms of how accessible or well-designed a website it." This new award takes a look under the hood and measures not just their public-facing portals, but also their processes and governance that results in the best service delivery.
Specifically, Bayside was recognized for digital service delivery and communication through the use of the Access Bayside mobile App, online service request tracker, Bayside Buzz weekly newsletter, and Village website.
CDG sees this award program as more than a recognition program. For the first time, the Center will be able to start tracking and benchmarking citizen service delivery through their extensive award application, which requires applicants to dig for answers to questions about the end-user experience that they may have never had to answer before. The Center will also offer workshops where the winners can share their experiences with other entities interested in improving their digital citizen service delivery mechanisms.
