The November issue of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Journal features an article on the City of Ormond Beach's sustainable method for concentration management. The AWWA is a leading national association dedicated to the professional water industry. The article, entitled "Sustainable Low-Pressure Reverse Osmosis Concentrate Management: Eight Years and Counting," was co-authored by several members of city staff - City Engineer John Noble, Utilities Manager Dave Ponitz, and Chief Treatment Plant Operator Sam Butler. It discusses the "eight years of operating data collected at the Ormond Beach water treatment plant (WTP) and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) following the commissioning of the 4.0-mgd LPRO expansion and the implementation of this concentration management strategy." The article addresses topics of water quality and quantity, benefits realized, operational challenges, and recommendations for similar projects.
