Wilsonville, OR and CH2M Hill Develop Partnership to Improve City’s Sewer Plant

CH2M Hill entered into a partnership with the City of Wilsonville and assumed operations at the Wilsonville Wastewater Treatment Plant on Sept. 21 after a 60 day transition period.

The firm was hired to design, build and operate the aging plant for 15 years and possibly an additional five years if all goes well.

The city and CH2M Hill worked together the past two months to make sure CH2M Hill staff are familiar with the equipment and processes at the plant.

“CH2M Hill has a great in-house training program and they will make sure our plant employees are skilled, trained, and up to speed with all of the latest sewer plant technologies,” said Community Development Director Michael Bowers.

CH2M Hill will operate the plant and lift-stations for the next 6-7 months before starting construction. The company provided the city with a 30% design for construction so design work will begin while the company assumes operations.

Gary Young, director of the transition process for CH2M Hill has been very impressed with employees at the plant that are supporting the transition effort.

“We appreciate the level of professionalism and support which Chuck Edwards, Cindy Kehoe, and Jim Nail have provided during this Transition Period,” said Young. “CH2M Hill is looking forward to operating the existing plant and building a new facility for the citizens of Wilsonville.”
